Engage Academy wins bid to receive National Lottery funding
We are delighted that Engage Academy has recently won a bid to receive funding from the National Lottery. The funding that has been received will be used to help increase parent and carer engagement, with the aim of working towards the Leading Parent Partnership Award. The funding will support a programme of activities which will benefit the families of Engage Academy.
The sessions, which will be run over the course of the next year, will focus on ongoing parent and carer support and helping families to develop important skills in their homes. The ongoing support package will focus on activities to help give families some ‘me time’, giving them chance to recharge their batteries and socialise with other families who are dealing with similar issues. Activities will be run regularly and will include yoga, mindfulness and meditation to help promote positive mental health, coffee mornings and social events.
The programme will also help to increase families’ skills and personal development in their homes, these will include courses for; family first aid, helping your child’s education, handling children’s challenging behaviour, safety in the home, food safety, anger management and time management. There will also be a focus on supporting families with specialist nutrition, health, well-being and mental health support. These sessions will be run to best suit the family’s needs; either in one-to-one sessions, small groups or workshops. Additional support and specialist help will also be provided where this is identified as needed.
The project will tackle some of the deep-rooted issues that our families and community face; which are beyond the scope of our statutory services. By using a family led, but child centred, approach we believe we can set in place sustainable early interventions, lessening the chance of family crisis.
The funding has also given us the ability to alter a space within school to create a room with a kitchen area to be used for these sessions and is enabling us to support with transport so that the sessions will be accessible to all.
We will be updating families on available courses and sessions.
