Academy Performance Review Committees (APRC) – (Local Tier of Governance)

The Academy Performance Review Committee (APRC) in Ethos Academy Trust (EAT) serves a crucial role in the governance and strategic oversight of the academies within the Trust. Its primary purpose is to ensure that the academies under its remit are delivering high-quality education and are effectively meeting the needs of their pupils, staff, and the wider community. The APRC provides a platform for local stakeholders, including parents, staff, and community representatives, to have a voice in the decision-making processes. It acts as a critical friend to the school leadership, offering support and challenge to ensure accountability and continuous improvement. By closely monitoring educational outcomes, safeguarding standards, and SEND provision, the APRC contributes to the overall mission of Ethos Academy Trust to provide nurturing and inclusive learning communities.

Appointments to all APRCs are made by the Board of Trustees. The remit of the APRCs is explained in the APRC Terms of Reference and details of APRC terms of office for the relevant academies are provided on the ‘Register of Interests’ page.  Further governance information including where the APRCs fit into the overall governance structure can be found by exploring the governance menu.

For Elements Academy an Interim Monitoring Board (IMB) was set up in December 2024 .  The Elements IMB has assumed all legal and strategic responsibilities of the Academy Performance Review Committee (APRC) with the exception of policy approval, which will revert to the Trust Central Executive Team.

For Enrich Academy an Interim Monitoring Board (IMB) was set up in March 2025.  The Wakefield Academy Performance Review Committee (APRC) remains in place to oversee Evolve Academy.  The IMB for Enrich Academy has assumed all legal and strategic responsibilities that the Wakefield APRC  previously had in relation to Enrich, with the exception of policy approval, which will revert to the Trust Central Executive Team.

Appointments to the IMB are made by the Board of Trustees and The IMB Terms of Reference can be found here.  Terms of office for IMB members are provided on the ‘Register of Interests’ page.
